How many teas can I brew with a 50g, 100g, 250g and 500g purchase?
On average, each 6oz cup of tea requires about 2.5g of loose leaf tea. That means you can expect approximately 20 cups from 50g, 40 cups from 100g, and 100 cups from 250g.
What kind of packaging will my tea arrive in?
Your tea will arrive in fresh sealed pouches or sealed tins, depending on the size. We use this specialized packaging to seal in freshness. All packaging is food-grade quality (FDA approved) and can be used to store your tea for approximately 24 months.
How long can I store the teas after I open them?
Tea works really hard for us. Not only is it colourful and super tasty, it can be stored for up to 2 years when opened and up to 5 years if it is vacuum sealed.
How do I properly steep my tea?
Each of our teas has its own steeping time and instructions. Generally, use 1 tablespoon (about 2.5g) per cup, heat water to 100°C / 212°F, and steep for 3–7 minutes. The longer you steep, the greater the tea intensity.
What is the difference between organic and certified organic?
Organic means a minimum of 70% of the ingredients must be organic, allowing up to 30% to be non-organic. Certified Organic guarantees at least 95% of the ingredients are certified organic. Organic tea may still be high quality even if it is not certified.
Are there teas I should avoid while pregnant or breastfeeding?
For personal health questions we always recommend speaking with your healthcare provider. All of our teas include ingredient lists so you can review them and ask your doctor whether specific blends are right for you.
How do I make iced tea?
Iced tea can be made from any tea. Our rule of thumb is to double the amount of tea used. If you normally use 2.5g per cup hot, use 5g for iced tea. Steep in half the hot liquid, then pour over ice and count the ice as part of the total water volume.
Does my order come with free samples?
Yes — we include a sampling of other teas whenever you place a Tea Pilgrim order. We’re sure you’ll fall in love with our teas and blends.
Do you retain my credit card information?
Absolutely not! As part of our security measures we do not retain any credit card information. Not only is all communication encrypted, we never collect your credit card information other than to complete the transaction, then it all gets vaporized so it can't be used again.
What credit cards does Tea Pilgrim accept?
Tea Pilgrim accepts all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.
Is there tax on tea?
In Canada, tea is considered a food and is non-taxable (unless it is bundled with an otherwise taxable product). This means that you will not be charged tax for any teas that you purchase at TeaPilgrim.ca. Although there is no tax on the teas, there is tax on the shipping if your order is less than $49.
